Let’s be honest: girths are the unsung workhorses of the tack room. Nobody photographs them for Instagram, nobody brags about them at the yard, and yet get the wrong one and your entire dressage test can unravel from the girth up. An affordable dressage girth doesn’t have to mean a flimsy strap of nylon that … Read more
Somewhere between “my horse deserves the best” and “my bank balance says otherwise” sits the humble numnah — and if you’ve spent any time scrolling tack shop websites at midnight, you’ll know the affordable sheepskin numnah search rarely turns up anything genuinely affordable. Real sheepskin is expensive to farm, tan and sew, so when a … Read more
Somewhere between “the saddle fits brilliantly” and “why does my horse keep swishing his tail at girthing-up time” sits a small, unglamorous bit of kit that punches well above its size: the half pad. Somewhere between mile twelve and mile twenty of your first proper trail ride, you stop thinking about scenery and start thinking about your seat bones. That’s the moment most riders go hunting for an affordable endurance saddle, usually with a slightly panicked google search and a credit card in hand. An affordable endurance saddle is … Read more
Somewhere between “I fancy trying western riding” and “I’ve actually bought the saddle” lies a swamp of jargon, wildly inconsistent pricing, and forum threads warning you off dodgy knock-offs. Walk into most tack shops and you’ll see leather jump saddles sitting proudly at £1,200 and up, looking down their noses at anyone clutching a modest budget. But here’s the thing nobody … Read more
