Your Complete Guide to Horse Gear, Tack & Equestrian Equipment in the UK
If you keep horses in Britain, you already know the drill. You turn your horse out on a clear morning, nip back inside for a cup of tea, and by the time you’ve finished your biscuit, the sky looks like a Turner painting — and not the pretty kind. That is precisely why a reliable … Read more
If you’ve ever watched your horse standing in a sodden field on a grey October morning — neck soaked through despite a perfectly decent rug on their back — you’ll already understand exactly why a high neck turnout rug horse setup matters so much in Britain. We don’t do gentle drizzle particularly well. We do … Read more
If you’ve ever stood in a soggy British field watching your carefully rugged horse soaking through from the withers upward, you’ll already understand the appeal of a horse turnout rug neck piece. The body rug is doing its job heroically, but the neck — that long, often forgotten stretch of horse — is getting absolutely … Read more
Let’s be honest about Britain’s weather for a moment. It doesn’t so much have seasons as it has moods — and like a particularly contrary horse, it can swing from crisp sunshine to horizontal sleet between breakfast and the school run. Here’s a truth that most horse owners find slightly uncomfortable: the horse standing in the field at 6°C, unclipped, with a thick native coat, is almost certainly warmer than you are in your gilet. A summer turnout rug horse owners actually reach for isn’t the rug with the prettiest print on the peg — it’s the one that does almost nothing, brilliantly. No padding to trap heat. No bulk to chafe a sweaty shoulder. Just a thin, breathable shell that keeps drizzle off a coat without turning your horse … Read more
There is, if you think about it, something quietly absurd about the British summer. One morning: warm enough to feel optimistic. That’s the situation a good lightweight turnout rug for … Read more
