A pony fly rug is a lightweight, ventilated cover designed to shield a pony’s coat and skin from biting insects, harmful UV rays and, in some designs, light rain, while still allowing heat to escape through mesh or ripstop panelling. If you’ve ever watched a native pony stamp, swish and rub itself raw against a … Read more
There’s a particular kind of guilt that sets in the first time you walk past your pony’s stable on a frosty November evening and realise he’s still wearing his summer coat and nothing else. A pony stable rug is an indoor blanket, usually filled with polyester wadding and fastened with chest straps and cross surcingles, … Read more
Ponies are drama queens about the weather. Give a pony half an excuse — a bit of drizzle, a stiff breeze, a sky that looks vaguely grey — and they’ll stand at the gate looking personally betrayed by the British climate. Which is exactly why finding the right pony turnout rug matters more than most … Read more
There’s a particular sort of cold that only exists in a British schooling arena at 7am in November — the kind that gets into a clipped horse’s loins before you’ve even picked up trot. A fleece exercise sheet for horses solves a genuinely small but genuinely annoying problem: how do you keep a horse’s back … Read more

A uv fly rug for horses is, at its core, a mesh or woven turnout sheet treated or constructed to block a percentage of ultraviolet … Read more
There’s a very specific sound that tells you fly season has arrived: the stamp-stamp-stamp of a hoof against the ground, followed by a tail swishing like a metronome set to “furious.” If you’ve stood at the gate watching your horse try to shake off a cloud of insects that simply will not take the hint, … Read more
A horse travel rug is a lightweight, wicking blanket worn during transport to regulate body temperature, prevent chills, and protect the coat from sweat and rubbing on the journey. It sits somewhere between a cooler and a stable rug, and it is one of those bits of kit that nobody thinks about until their horse … Read more
A wicking cooler rug for horses is a lightweight rug, usually fleece, mesh or waffle-knit, that pulls sweat and moisture away from the coat while letting the horse cool down gradually rather than all at once. That last bit matters more than most yards realise. Chuck a heavy stable rug straight onto a sweaty horse … Read more
