Standing in a feed room at 6pm in January, torch wedged under your chin, trying to work out whether your horse needs the 200g or the 300g tonight, is a peculiarly British rite of passage. A stable rug, in the simplest terms, is an indoor blanket that helps a stabled horse regulate warmth without the … Read more
Somewhere around the third frosty morning of the year, every horse owner has the same internal argument in the feed room: is he cold, or am I just cold, and does that even matter? Stable rugs for horses exist precisely to take the guesswork out of that question, but walk into a tack shop or … Read more
A waterproof breathable horse rug is a turnout blanket with an outer shell treated or laminated to block rain while still letting sweat vapour escape, so a horse stays dry outside and dry underneath at the same time. That second half of the definition is the bit most owners skip past, and it’s the whole … Read more
If you keep horses in Britain, you already know the drill. You turn your horse out on a clear morning, nip back inside for a cup of tea, and by the time you’ve finished your biscuit, the sky looks like a Turner painting — and not the pretty kind. That is precisely why a reliable … Read more

There’s a particular breed of morning — the kind that arrives in late November somewhere between Shropshire and Northumberland — where the field is a swamp, the rain is horizontal, and your horse is standing in it looking frankly affronted by the whole situation. This is exactly where a proper heavyweight turnout rug horse owner … Read more

By 3pm, a squall has rolled in off the Atlantic and … Read more
